The fact that they haven’t been removed all together though gives the impression that one day they will be accessible to passengers again. Right now though the risk of someone using them for bombs or other types of dangerous activities is too great.
Even though many passengers at United States airports miss being able to access these lockers, they have been tolerant. They understand that the government is doing all they can to help protect all of those people choosing to fly. They would rather know they are safe at the airport than to be able to have the convenience of accessing these lockers.

With millions of people accessing them around the nation on an annual basis, that amount of lost income has really taken a toll. Yet in the name of safety and security it is a loss these airports have adjusted to.
